VELVET DREAMING is the electro-pop project of 22-year-old Kade Thibodeau (they/them). Born and raised in Brooklyn, they moved to Boston in their early teenage years and soon began immersing themselves in the rich Boston area DIY punk and indie scenes. They formed a solo indie rock project and a punk band and played dozens of shows locally while still a teenager. Inspired by their involvement in the DIY scene and a lifelong love of pop music, they began writing songs for the project that would soon become VELVET DREAMING in late 2021.
Taking influence from Charli XCX , PC Music , SOPHIE , Ayesha Erotica , Lady Gaga and other catchy, slightly oddball pop, their first release, BODYMOVE, was entirely self-produced, written, mixed, and independently released in October 2022. In 2023, they released a series of three singles, beginning with "Ur Love Is My Drug", a cover of the Kesha song in February, "2 Far" in May, which they also filmed a music video for, and latest single "Miracle", which was released on their birthday in August.
Only performing live for about a year and a half, VELVET DREAMING has already been nominated for a Boston Music Award for "New Artist of the Year" and has played with artists such as Alice Longyu Gao , Girli, and Moistbreezy as well as embarking on a fully self-booked weeklong Northeast tour.
